Description

“Sometimes weird lights fall from the sky when I’m touching it, thought they were stars at first but they aren’t, well at least I don’t think. It makes me curious.”

A repaint of one of my favorite concept illustrations I've done for Sky Interface :) I like the idea of lights falling from the sky.

Saw this image through ProjectComment and I had to write a comment on it, it's absoloutely breathtaking!

The different value between colors, highlights and shades really wraps up the piece nicely, as it holds a sort of mystical tone to the painting. Before getting to my favorite part for this picture, I really wanted to pay attention to how the light hit the face of the person in this painting. The soft glow on the nose and cheek really shows how warm and beautiful the surrounding spots in the image act, and how calm the man here seems to be. My personal favorite touch to this piece is perhaps the main focus, of him swallowing a star. How you presented the light coming from inside his mouth and throat really brought this piece together nicely, adding a lot of depth and perspective here. On his throat, showing the bone inside, really shows how bright the star is and really adds a touch of beauty here. The way the light touches the hair and the sweater also gives it that beautiful soft touch, which really adds to the tone of the piece.

One thing that maybe you could work on would be the surrounding stars in the background. Perhaps they would be too overpowering if this was implemented, but maybe by adding a bit more brightness to the background stars would make it easier to see what this man was doing without reading the title of the image. Otherwise, the circles just seem to be floating there without much reason.

However, I really don't think that this alters the image too much and overall is a stunning piece. Well done!
